Iñigo Urkullu appointed Vice-President of European Democratic Party, calls on Van Rompuy to recognise pro-European record of EAJ-PNV

Iñigo Urkullu, Chair of the Governing Council of the Basque National Party (EAJ-PNV) has been appointed Vice-President of the European Democratic Party. His official appointment took place at the Extraordinary Congress of the EDP in Brussels, where the political proposals of the democratic alliance were also approved.

Mr. Urkullu also called on Mr. Van Rompuy to recognise the pro-European record of the Basque National Party. The full-time President of the Council of Europe stated that he had never before seen a national party that was so openly in favour of the construction of Europe.
