Agreement on TAV access (high-speed train) in the Basque capitals
In Bilbao, there will be complete tunnelling; in San Sebastian, an intermodal station will be built; and in Vitoria, the high speed train will be concealed in the central urban section.

The Basque Government and the councils of Vitoria, Bilbao and San Sebastian have agreed the definition of the access of the high-speed train in the three Basque capitals with Adif.
In Bilbao, a fully underground station has been suggested, using part of the current railway sites, some of them underused. In San Sebastian, the project includes for all accesses and the station to be built around the existing railway track. An integrated solution with the current station, the bus station and the Tabakalera building has been drawn up, to get the best intermodality with local and medium-haul rail services. In Vitoria, a definitive solution is being sought for access, insertion in the city and a station, while avoiding temporary situations whose associated investment is not usable in the final situation. The solution requires more definition work by the different institutions involved. The solution does, however, involve the railway network running underground through the city centre.
