Bilbao commemorates the 80th anniversary of "Eguna", the first newspaper published entirely in Basque
Bilbao commemorated the 80th anniversary of 'Eguna', the first newspaper published entirely in Basque, with a day at Euskaltzaindia (Royal Academy of the Basque Language), in which the past, present and future challenges of journalism and Basque were analysed.

The headquarters of Euskaltzaindia hosted a day dedicated to remembering the first daily newspaper completely in Basque. The purpose of the meeting promoted by the Academy of the Basque Language, the City Council of Bilbao, the Sabino Arana Foundation, Euskalpen Kluba and the newspaper Deia was to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the creation of the publication, which was edited and had its presses at number 17 in Calle Correo. The session was opened by the alderman of the city, Juan Mari Aburto, the Chairman of Euskaltzaindia, Andrés Urrutia, and the Chairman of the Sabino Arana Foundation, Juan Mari Atutxa.
